Chris Nealeigh one of the good guys and our Big Hero

With the B5 coming out, Team Associated Chris Nealeigh pulled his electronics out of his B4.2 and decided to put it to better use. Rather then selling it, he chose to give it to local racer Dylan Cochell. Dylan’s current B4 has seen a lot of novice racing and was ready to be replaced. Chris went through and rebuilt his B4.2, handing Dylan a clean, hooked up competitive car. More of this needs to be done in this hobby, it just makes everyone feel good. Chris Nealeigh is sponsored by Team Associated, Reedy, Mayor R/C, Hella Graphics, Vision Racing, and NW Hobbies. On a personal note, I am glad to have known Chris and watched him grow into the man that he now is, and to be able to call him a friend. He has always taken my son under his wing, and is just a good guy all around. Nice work...
The Big Hero – Chris Nealeigh

The Big Hero – Chris Nealeigh

Chris Nealeigh is one of those quiet racers that doesn’t have a chassis sponsor. He should because he is always at the front of the pack, and is one of the nicest guys at the track. I have known Chris for a long time now, I even shot his senior pictures last year. I might add, that I rocked them out. What Chris did at the Willamette Valley Truck Classis this weekend, is what is missing in this hobby now. He tried to make a kid feel really good about his racing. Not just any kid, but my kid Aiden. Aiden has been doing really well in 4×4 SC as of late, and is really starting to get good. He’s 12 and has been racing for about 6 years now which is about as long as I have known Chris. Chris was running A3 from the first position, as Cameron Kellogg had wrapped it up by winning the first two mains. My son was in second on the grid. At the tone, Chris went just wide enough to let my kid by for the lead, without him knowing that he did it on purpose. He proceeded to follow right behind him trying to teach him what it is like to be in the lead. A couple of times when my son got out of his rhythm, Chris would go wide again and let him by. The whole time he was doing this, he was talking to my son saying things like ” take it easy” “just drive your line” in a calming voice. Keeping my son calm as...
Special thanks to Tom Davies of Top Gear Hobbies

Special thanks to Tom Davies of Top Gear Hobbies

I just want to give a special thanks to Tom Davies of Top Gear Hobbies. Tom has created a world class facility and a friendly environment for the rc racers in the Portland area to race at. Tom is one of the good guys, and always has a smile on his face. This is a tough industry to make any money in, and he has put his career as a pilot on hold to give us a place to race. I know there must be times where he is wondering why he did it, but watching the smiles in the pits tells me he is doing an amazing job. I know he had a lot of help, and you know who you are so I won’t list them all here. The next time you hit the track, don’t forget to thank Tom for his long hours and hard work. Buy local, and keep the rc scene in Portland rolling! Merry Christmas and see you...
Sometimes the little things make this hobby great!

Sometimes the little things make this hobby great!

Today was one of those special days at our local track. There is a couple that has been around rc as long as I have been racing, and that is a long time. Don and Diane MacDonald have always been around helping people. We don’t get to see them quite so much anymore, for various reasons, but when they come out we are all happy to see them. Don and Diane are that couple that just love RC. They race older gear because they just love to race and I guess just don’t care to keep up with the Joneses. They just race what they have, and some of it is really old. Then we have Dave Gullickson is another local racer, that is just a really nice person. He’s also been around a long time and has been a long time Losi racer. He comes out when he wants to and basically kicks everyones rear, and has a fun time with everyone in the process. He is also always there to help out with set ups and such. He recently got a sponsorship with AE and had his old Losi truck that has won a lot of races that he now couldn’t use. What’s a guy to do? Dave gave me the heads up, that he was going to give his truck and all his extra parts and tires to Diane. When Jim Dunlap, our local track owner heard about it, he found some electronics to throw in it too. In the shot above, Dave is hard at work with his daughter getting the rig ready. I guess...
