After a 2 day battle between Focht running his B4.2 and Kellogg running his Durango, it all came down to one point for the win.

This all took place at Top Gear Hobbies during the spring invitational. Focht and Kellogg have been battling all season long for supremacy of who is the best in their pit. Teammates in name only, these two actually dislike each other on the track. Best of friends off, it can get downright ugly on the track.

This was an 8 race series, with Kellogg lucky in the fact that Focht had to leave for a personal emergency and missed one round. With two drops, Focht had to give up a round to Kellogg, and in the end probably made the difference.

It came down to the last round with Kellogg thinking he had it won, but the amazing skill set thrown down in Focht’s main garnering him a second place finish. The pressure was on Kellogg who ran in the next main. He needed a 6th place to tie and with only 7 in the race even Kellogg could pull this off. It all started off great for Focht when Kellogg fell into last place, but it seemed like everything fell into place and other racers just seemed to move aside for Kellogg to get a 5th and the win.The odds were against Focht the whole weekend as his heats seemed to be stacked with world class racers, where Kellogg seemed to get the easy heats. Focht fought a valiant fight, but in the end racing against world champion Ryan Cavalieri in 3 heats basically subtracted 3 points from this weathered racer.

Once again the gods of rc racing seemed to shine on Kellogg by giving him the Corn Pops Bowl win and the big bag of cereal that goes with the win.

Stay tuned as the battle continues this summer when they race against each other in 4×4 SC. Kellogg is already claiming team driving as Focht’s son with now join the fray.

If you don’t know who Ronda Drake is you’ve been living under a rock somewhere. All kidding aside Ronda is one of if not the fastest female talent RC Racing has in the world. Ronda has been racing and competing at the top level for awhile now(it’s not polite to ask guys ) . “I personally met Ronda back at an old Hot Rod Shootout circa late 90′s. She was in my heat and I learned then as did many others did that this “chick” was going to put an ass whoop’n on us. She proceeded to out qualify me by two heats! So when I ran into her later down the road I knew she’d be a perfect fit for Team Tekin.” Randy Pike

Let’s check out what’s “Under the Hood” in Ronda’s favorite Tekin powered ride!

Ronda is smashing down the competition with her TLR Scte 2.0 powered by the latest Tekin Pro4HD 4300kv and Rx8 Esc. This combination has taken over the 4wd SC division and with it Ronda is tough to beat.

As you can see from the pictures the wiring install is clean and well routed. This not only looks pretty it assures that her equipment is always going to work.

Ronda has fashioned a lexan guard around her receiver to protect if from roost thrown by her front tires. These are the little details that separate the girls from the men….pretty smart.

Ronda’s 4wd SC body is nicely wrapped up by Upgrade RC. Next time you’re at the “big race” of the year and you get motored by this pink and black land rocket just know you’re getting beaten by the fastest gal in R/C!

Known as one of the nicest most approachable guys in RC racing, Ryan Lutz chose Tekin electronics after meeting team manager Randy Pike at a local race. “Lutz had recently defected to California and into my backyard. We began talking and he’d mentioned he was tough on electronics and often ran into issues running the classes. Tekin took it on as a personal challenge and he’s been on the team ever since.” Randy Pike

So when asked what was Ryan’s favorite electric class ride to show off he didn’t hesitate to whip out his Tekin powered Team Durango Dex408 buggy. Let’s take a look at what’s “under the hood” of Lutz’s E buggy.

Ryan chooses to run a Tekin T8 1900kv motor controlled by the Tekin Rx8 Gen2 esc. Powering up his Tekin system are a pair of Protek 100c 2s packs. Check out that fly white wire!

Ryan learned everything he knows about clean wiring and beautiful soldering from Tekin team manager Randy Pike Look at that install job!

As if Ryan wasn’t easy enough to spot roaming around the race track at well over 6 1/2 feet tall he runs his well known Blue/Pink paint scheme with AKA white wheels. If you ever get the chance make sure to stop by and say “hi” to Mr. Lutz.

The next generation of bar tire performance is here: the Pro-Line Proton! Based off of the incredibly successful V1 Suburbs design, the Proton achieves improved performance and durability on a wider range of track surfaces. Indoor 1/10 scale Off-Road racing has taken off around the world but the traction conditions can vary wildly from loose and dusty to super wheelie traction. The V1 Suburbs performs exceptionally well at tracks with pure clay and medium to high traction and the Proton eclipses its predecessor by providing more forward grip and being easier to drive. The Proton features the same low tread found in the V1 Suburbs but the tread is thicker front to back and is more spaced out for improved performance on loose and low traction indoor surfaces.

The Proton made its race debut at Round 2 of JBRL at SDRC Raceway in San Diego under extreme secrecy and went on to take the TQ and Win at the hands of Pro-Line’s Cody Turner in the premier Mod Buggy class! If you want winning performance and scientifically proven next generation tire technology, then reach for the new Pro-Line Protons!
